Volvo “round the world”

Swedish car manufacturer Volvo recently released the first set of official images of their new Volvo S60 sedan.

The company being sold by Ford Motor promises that the new S60 will be more dynamic and sportier than the older members of the fleet. The production version of the S60 is very similar to the concept car that was unveiled during the Detroit Auto Show last January. The car keeps the stylish lines and aggressive stance of the concept car.

The S60 retains the attractive headlights and fascia of the show car. The new Volvo vehicle will go into production in their factory in Gent, Belgium by summer of 2010. It is expected to wow everyone at the Geneva Auto Show this coming March.

The new sporty member in the Volvo garage was specifically designed to meet head on the luxury sedans in the market like the 3 Series of BMW.

After seeing this post about a vintage BMW 7-Series on BMW Talk, I knew I had to go looking for a Volvo that could pretty much pwn it to the ground. It literally took me five seconds to find a Volvo that breaths more class than the BMW. Surprise surprise.

Classy, aye? I’m really impressed with the interior too by the way — go find a beemer to compete with that!

The market segment of the premium compact suvs has been dominated by BMW for quite some time now, seeing as their popular BMW X3 is the only REAL luxurious compact suv out there, especially on the European market. With the upcoming Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK — it’ll be getting some stiff competition. Volvo is also working on a competitor, and from what I’ve seen it’s going to be an x3-killer. The Volvo XC60.

Ultimate safety — excellent design — luxurious iour (even though I don’t believe the white is the best option, but hey — it’s a concept car) — a look that reminds me of a Coupe a little bit — …

It’ll be with the dealers in 2009 — that’s only ONE year to go, baby! Go Volvo!
