Posted on March 12th, 2008 in Engine, Interior, Volvo, Volvo S40, Volvo V50 | No Comments »

Volvo maintains its status as the emperor of sports wagons makers with the introduction of Volvo V50, an S40 revived as a fashionable wagon. However, the Volvo V50 has not undergone any large changes, the rear and the front body is been bit highlighted and has been reshaped, appearing a small less boxy. Moreover, the rear bumper and the grill have been twisted a little bit to give it a more sophisticated look.

The central console offers more storage space and also accepts an auditory jack which was largely lacking behind. The handbrake in console has been redesigned as well. Furthermore, T5 model engine of Volvo V50 is much potent than the earlier models because of the nine horsepower improvement. The engine in addition, attains 30 mpg highway fuel effectiveness.

Also, the 2.4i gives an expected 22 mpg within the city, and 31 mpg at highway. The T5 AWD gives 20 mpg within the city where as 28 mpg at highway. The passionate drivers might like to pick the turbocharged engine of T5; as it gets approximately the similar fuel cost like the 2.4i. However, the handling of Volvo V50 is fun and smart with both the standard suspensions and sport tuned.

Volvo C30 interior

Okay, so I’m not the biggest fan of the Volvo C30. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, the back just doesn’t look like it’s a Volvo. It looks cheap. It looks futuristic. It doesn’t work. BUT: the interior is AWESOME. Sober, luxurious and flawless. A pretty video right below with an excellent overview… Got to watch!

Volvo XC60 Concept: Video Report

Just after showing you the first pictures of the upcoming Volvo XC60 concept compact SUV car, we found this video report on the car on Youtube! It’s well worth checking out — as I believe it shows some of the downsides of the XC60 too: the plastic-looking interior, the somewhat useless additions — and the arrogance of the design team…

I still like the car — but communication-wise, that wasn’t the best work in my humble opinion. Enjoy!

Volvo XC60 Concept: Premium Compact SUV

The market segment of the premium compact suvs has been dominated by VOLVO XC60 CONCEPT FRONTBMW for quite some time now, seeing as their popular BMW X3 is the only REAL luxurious compact suv out there, especially on the European market. With the upcoming Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK — it’ll be getting some stiff competition. Volvo is also working on a competitor, and from what I’ve seen it’s going to be an x3-killer. The Volvo XC60.

Ultimate safety — excellent design — luxurious iour (even though I don’t believe the white is the best option, but hey — it’s a concept car) — a look that reminds me of a Coupe a little bit — …

It’ll be with the dealers in 2009 — that’s only ONE year to go, baby! Go Volvo!
