Volvo is introducing two 2.4-liter, five-cylinder, turbo diesel engines: the twin turbo D5 with 420 Nm of torque and 205 horse power, and the single turbo 2.4D with 420 Nm of torque and 175 horse power.
The higher powered engine has already been launched in the Volvo S80, but both engines will soon be available in Volvo V70, Volvo S80, Volvo XC70 and Volvo XC60 in most markets by spring of this year.
Among the two D5 engines, the twin turbo engine is also more fuel-efficient. The engine allows for a higher level of exhaust gas recirculation compared to other engines. The twin turbo D5 effectively combines high performance with low fuel consumption.
The single turbo 2.4D was also optimized to use up lower levels of fuel. The engine is set to have a different injection system compared to the one D5 nestles. Its fuel efficiency and combustion will depend thoroughly on precise fuel injection sequences.

A brand new Volvo V70 Police Car today — launched at Stockholms police conference just a couple weeks ago…
I’m assuming this is the 185bhp version but according to people at Volvo “next year will see the introduction of the new 200 hp 2.5 FT Flexi-fuel (E85) version as an environmentally optimised option for the police.”

The midsize wagon, Volvo V70 is all set for its new look in 2008. The distinctive style of this family car reflects that of Volvo S80 sedan. The raised hood and roof line which slopes down to the rear contributes to its sporty and powerful appearance. The recent third generation of Volvo V70 has been planned to be different from strong XC70 built at the similar platform, which is evolved from 850 Wagon as it was launched for 1998 model of the year.

The brand new Volvo V70 of 2008 will be on offer for the very first time along with its latest 235-horsepower 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that is united with the 6-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. It is also equipped with the turbocharged 5-cylinder.

The luxury and sophistication levels have been improvised as the seats are more comfortable and the pleasure is doubled with the music of its high-end audio system. Its slim center stack has even become a trademark for Volvo nowadays. The new hook and track system, 40/20/40 split folding rear seat and the large cargo area has also increased the utility of this exquisite model of Volvo V70.

Integrated booster seats, Blind Spot Information System and the collision Warning along with the brake Support are some of the safety features that makes Volvo V70 a good car option.

Volvo has shown some amazing new models in the light of their popular Volvo Ocean Race — and I found a whole lot of great photos of these new models on Car Scoop. The V70 and both the XC70 and XC90 SUV’s have gotten a little facelift for the occasion, and they look quite good — and rough!
I’m sure these will look awesome cruising the shores of Bretagne!
